The Advantages Of Laser Hair Removal for Phoenix Residents

laser hair removal

Living in Phoenix, we have the advantage of wearing shorts outside for about 8 months of the year. For most women, this means shaving their legs on a regular basis so they don’t have hairy or stubbly legs on display. Unwanted growth of hair is a big problem for many people. Shaving, epilation or treatment with hormone preparations attempt to counteract this growth. With laser hair removal, it is now possible to reduce hair growth, without the often painful side effects that come along with the conventional hair removal methods. When it comes to laser hair removal, various systems can be used. The treatments are performed by experienced skin therapists and it is always important to choose a specialist you trust.

What can you achieve with laser hair removal?

On the treated areas, unwanted hair growth can be reduced by 95%. Any remaining hairs may be thinner and lighter in color.

What body parts can be treated?

Virtually all parts of the body such as the face, bikini area, legs, arms, armpits, and the back can be treated with laser light.

Does it hurt?

In most cases, it feels like a warm tingling sensation during treatment. After completion of the laser hair removal treatment, a light red rash (erythema) may be visible, which disappears again soon.

How many treatments are required?

The growth cycle of hair consists of several phases: the growth phase, the regressive phase and the resting phase. For optimal results, your hair should be treated with laser light in the growth phase. On average, one has to undergo 6 to 8 laser treatments with 5 weeks between each laser treatment. Some people – due to their hair type or hair color – are less suitable for a laser hair removal treatment. People with light skin and dark hair are the most suitable for this treatment. In people with white and light blonde hair, the least successful results are booked.
The skin therapist will usually have an interview with you before the procedure, to give you additional information and to guide you through the process step by step.

How does the treatment work

The laser emits a highly focused beam of light on the skin. The pigment (melanin) in the hair absorbs the laser light. This laser light is converted into heat. This heat destroys the roots of the hair. During the laser treatment, the skin is cooled dwn with a cooled laser head. This prevents reddening of the skin and feels good during the laser treatment.

After about 1 to 2 weeks after the laser treatment, the hairs will be loose and fall out.

For best results, a diode-laser technique should be chosen. The diode-laser technique has demonstrable advantages over IPL-treatments.

The advantages:

  • The diode laser has a wavelength of 810 Nm (the wavelength to treat excessive hair)
  • Cooled scanner, which means less risk of damage to the skin and a more pleasant feeling during the treatment
  • No bright flashlight during treatment to the eyes
  • The long-term effect of diode lasers has been known for over 30 years, IPL systems are available on the market since the 90s
  • Laser may be used by physicians and skin therapists, who have followed long-term courses. IPL may be used by anyone
  • IPL works with lamps that decrease in quality per treatment (as in a solarium). The quality per treatment is therefore not constant. When the diode-laser is used, the energy remains constant and hence the quality of treatment, which is noticeable in the final result

With safe laser hair removal treatment, you can go outside and display those hair free legs here in Phoenix without the worry of shaving everyday.
