At the last official Survivors Summit, media from around the globe engaged survivors and their families looking to capture a piece of history that may never be available again—the true life stories of heroism from the men and women who survived the Day that Lives in Infamy.
CBS, CNN, National Geographic, the Chicago Tribune, USA Today and many, many others talked with survivors, on-camera, by podcast and by phone, ensuring that Pearl Harbor survivor stories would not be lost to future generations.
The Pearl Harbor Survivor Project team too spent much of the day interviewing survivors and talking with children, grandchildren and spouses about contributions that day and how proud survivors have made their families and how important it is to them that their memories live on. They stressed the importance of engaging younger generations, making sure they understand the sacrifices that were made in 1941 and that their lives today would not be the same without the brave men and women on Oahu that day.
