The Children Speak: Interviews with the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor

On December 6, we focused our outreach on the next generation and conducted interviews with the sons and daughters who journeyed to Pearl Harbor with their parents to serve as caretakers and advocates for their personal heroes.

Our mission in speaking to the children was simple. We wanted to find out what they planned to do to keep their father's legacies alive and their thoughts on this being the final reunion of Pearl Harbor survivors. Some of the stories we heard were moving. Many children told their stories with tears in their eyes. Then there were those who fought back the tears and spoke with sheer passion about their resolve to keep their father's legacy alive.

Despite their background or their circumstances, the sons and daughters of Pearl Harbor survivors all have two things in common--their love of their fathers and a commitment to ensuring their stories do not die with them.
