Oscar-Winning Actor and WWII Veteran, Tony Curtis, Encourages Americans to Support the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund

“We must preserve this memorial to bravery, courage, valor and duty—regardless of the cost—so that those who pilgrimage here from all over the world to honor and pay tribute [to our history] may study and learn the valuable lessons of peace with honor through strength.”

-Tony Curtis

Oscar-winning actor and WWII veteran, Tony Curtis, encouraged Americans across the nation to donate to the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund today, the 65th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Curtis said that every donation brings the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund closer to its goal of raising $50 million to construct a new Pearl Harbor Memorial Museum and Visitors Center. The new center is desperately needed to accommodate the more than 1.5 million people that journey out to visit the sites of the Harbor each year. The current center is rapidly sinking into the Harbor and, if not replaced, pieces of history may be lost to future generations forever, according to Curtis.

Mr. Curtis also donated original artwork to the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund’s silent auction on Dec. 5th. All proceeds benefit the Fund’s cause to build a new Visitors Center. Silent auction winners have also been invited to dine with Mr. and Mrs. Curtis in Las Vegas.
